NO!! do NOT get a mac, the commercials, the advertising..its all just stupid, macs are nowhere near faster than PC's. Have you noticed how they boast about their superior specs and then they don't even tell you what's so much better? It's because they aren't better, that's why. Mac users..just shutup.

Wrong, Mac's now use Intel processors (and all other hardware is exactly the same as PCs for that matter) that's why the Mac cheerleaders are so happy they can install Windows now on their crippled Mac's now.

Mac's don't crash or get viruses?
Wrong again, Mac's do crash and get viruses and crash as well… and when they crash, trust me they crash harder.

To answer the original question, take a look at a Mac forum such as "Mac Fix It". There you'll see the true colors.
See threads such as:
"Help with failure startup, home>library>pref crash"
"Missing files on restart!"
"PowerBook G4 – Crashing Daily"
"drt-drt-drrrt-drt and freezing."
…And many more most people say its a "Windows problem".

mac by a lot a pc is good for mostly gaming, programing, and oddly virus protection but go with a mac

mac is definatly the better way to go. they have a better processor then the pc, so there faster and have more space to save info on. and when u surf the web then u cant get any viruses, so its impossible for a mac to crash so ull never have to worry about that.

Both are equally viable, however, because you are a home usser, I assume you won't want to spend $1000 on the full Photoshop, and would rather spend $150 on Elements. As such, you'll need Windows. Word of Warning: Get Windows XP if you can: it has better compatibility with software than Vista.

well if you are jus doing basic stuff, get a pc cause they are cheaper.

get an antivirus (AVG is good)

other than that just go with what you can fit in your budget

For things like that it's a matter of personal perferance. You might be able to find a mac at a local library or at a local computer store. Look around, you should be able to find one that you can use. See if you like the interface better. Some people do, I personally don't.

I guess Mac would be the way to go if your not gonna be gaming :p but i myself would always choose Pc , i just like it better

For Photoshop I would use a Mac. Of course Linux is also a viable option...
