Hi all. I am going to break down and buy a new computer with my income tax money returns as my current laptop is 4 years old and way out of date…it doesn't even have Word, Excel, Access, etc. on it. My questions to you are, should I get a laptop, or desktop, (which would you buy and why?) and should I get the new Windows Vista or keep with my current XP? Any thoughts are welcome, thanks!! PS-I'm already thinking of going with Gateway or Dell as i've gone with them in the past. If I do get a desktop, I want one with lots of memory as I plan on using it mainly for gaming and scanning photos as I like to scrapbook.
Looking at the same thing soon. If you want to be able to use your computer anywhere (different rooms, outside etc..) lap top is the way to go. However, as for gaming, memory… a desktop would be the better route, a lap top with that much will cost alot more than a desktop especially from Dell… etc.. and as for Vista, after Jan. all new computers will come with Vista. Best of luck and scrap away..
